What makes heart health worse?

You probably already know some of the answer to the question, what makes heart health worse. The key modifiable factors are:

  • Diet
  • Lack of exercise
  • Smoking
  • Excessive alcohol consumption
  • Overweight and obesity
  • Stress
  • Poor sleep
  • Inflammation

The good news is that actually some of these things can be tackled together. For example, sorting out your diet will help enormously with weight, sleep and inflammation. And taking care of stress will also help with inflammation and sleep. Giving up smoking (or even just switching from cigarettes to a vape) will also significantly reduce inflammation.

So choosing just one of these things to work on at a time is a really good start.
